Therapeutic Approach
Jed's background is in attachment-based interventions, and they prioritize the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of effective work. They use a variety of approaches tailored to meet clients where they are. These include cognitive and dialectical behavioural therapy, mentalization-based therapy, and schema therapy. Jed's focus is on creating a nonjudgmental space to explore past ways of coping that may no longer serve clients in the present.
Qualifications and Memberships
Jed is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, they have further training addictions, substance use, and psychoanalytic therapies. They are currently working toward completing their Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), focusing on barriers to care and experiences of violence in substance-using 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Jed began working in mental health through a veterans' clinic, and has since gone on to work in immigrant and refugee care, as well as child and adolescent mental health.
Personal Interests
Jed is a homebody; they enjoy spending time with their dogs and family. Jed is an avid plant fan and has a twenty-seven-year-old tree philodendron. They are an avid reader and stay up to date with current trends in therapy. Their interests reflect a balance between lifelong learning and self-care.
Working with jed
Jed believes that clients are the expert on themselves and that therapy is about meaning making - exploring how people grow and learn,
and understand themselves. They focus on the attachments clients build with people in their lives, the stories we tell ourselves, and how
we came to learn them. Non-judgment and unconditional regard are two of Jed's core therapeutic values.
